We believe that there’s a special place in the heart of God for kids!  In fact, Jesus rebuked His closest friends when they tried to deter parents who were bringing their kids to Jesus.  He was very clear about His love for kids when He said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.” (Mark 10:14).  It’s our belief that ministering the love of Jesus to our kids should take first priority in our church, and any investment in them will pay dividends in the future.  We also see that Jesus makes a distinction between feeding lambs and sheep (John 21).  Therefore we have designed our children’s ministry so that our kids are able to “come to Jesus” through teaching and lessons that are simple and age appropriate. 

While we defer to parents in knowing what is best for their children, we encourage our parents to integrate their kids into the children’s ministry as soon as is comfortable for mommy, daddy and the kids.  There are a couple reasons that we encourage this during the Sunday teaching times:

First, as mentioned above, we believe that children are best able to learn with teaching that is suited for their age and maturity.  We want to see these kids learn about and fall in love with Jesus! 

Secondly, many adults who grew up in church know the frustration (and pain, if your parents were pinchers!) of having to sit quietly through a long, hot, boring, adult sermon.  We want our kids to grow up enjoying church, not dreading it!

Finally, our Sunday teachings are a time when couples can sit together, without the kids, and grow in their oneness.  We realize that for many couples, these opportunities are few and far between.  “The two shall become one flesh” speaks of course of a husband and wife.  All too often parents attempt to become “one” with their kids, and their marriage suffers as a consequence.  Consider the Sunday teaching time as a weekly, one hour retreat for you and your spouse!

As in most churches, we have a constant need for loving adults to help serve in our children’s ministry.  There may not be a more eternal use of your time than in molding and shaping our next generation into the image of Jesus.  Please prayerfully consider helping out as we teach our kids about Jesus!  If you are interested in this ministry or for more information, Contact Us.
