Bryan Winchester
Staff Elder

Bio
Bryan Winchester was born and raised in Portland, Oregon, in a non-religious home. As a teenager, he heard the gospel through a street preacher and came to faith in Christ around 1997. In 2014, he served as a pastoral intern at Capitol Hill Baptist Church in Washington, D.C., under Mark Dever. After returning to Oregon, Bryan served as a non-staff pastor at Trinity Church of Portland. During that time, he also began preaching regularly for Westwood Community Fellowship after they lost their pastor. In the spring of 2018, Westwood called Bryan to be their lead pastor—a role he gladly accepted.
Bryan focuses on preaching, shepherding, and training future leaders to serve both within SGC and in other churches, locally and globally. He married his wonderful wife, Deva, in 2011, and together they have three children: Gabriella, Paxton, and Brielle. Bryan enjoys cooking elaborate feasts, making music, and encouraging fellow Christians to walk in the grace they’ve received through the Lord.

David Brashler
Staff Elder

Bio
David Brashler grew up in a church-going family, but did not recognize his need for Jesus. In 2001, he came to faith within the ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ at Oregon State University. He also met his wife Claire there and they married in 2005. David entered vocational ministry in 2007. He served as the youth pastor of Living Water Church in Vancouver, Washington, for nearly twelve years before transitioning to an associate pastor role. In the spring of 2021, he joined Bryan on staff at SGC as the associate pastor. While David also preaches, he focuses on biblical counseling and the Doctrine for Disciples classes. He completed his M.Div. at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, earning an advanced certificate in biblical counseling. He is currently undergoing certification with ACBC. David and Claire have four children, Elliana, Jonathan, Adam, and Flaurence. He enjoys hiking outdoors, pour-over coffee, and starting more projects around home than he can finish.

Richard Blaylock
Elder

Bio
Richard Blaylock grew up in a Catholic home but became agnostic in his later teen years. He came to know the Lord through reading the Bible as a college student. Richard has a bachelor’s in psychology from Ateneo de Manila University, an M.Div. from SBTS, and a Ph.D. from SBTS. Along with being an assistant professor at Western Seminary, the founder of CEBT, and a member of ETS, Richard is a lay elder to SGC. He focuses on the liturgy and the Doctrine for Disciples class. He and his family moved to Portland in 2022 and joined SGC a few months later. Richard has been married to his lovely wife Caitlin since 2013. Together, they have three children: Addi, Ellie, and Tobiah. Despite his extensive list of degrees and responsibilities, Richard enjoys playing video games such as Final Fantasy. He also enjoys reading, working out, and long naps.
